Proboscis monkeys (Nasalis larvatus) endemic to Borneo, is nicknamed “monyet belanda” or “Dutchman” by the locals due to its large body size, big round pot bellies and striking colours fur coat. But what makes them famous is the huge long nose and a permanently erect bright red penis seen in mature males. The reason is unknown for this permanent erection but with between 20 to 24 females proboscis in a male’s harem, we guess the alpha male needs to.
1300hrs – Meet at hotel lobby and depart for Kota Klias, located approximately 112 km from Kota Kinabalu. The journey will pass small towns, paddy fields and villages.
1545hrs – Arrive at Kota Klias Jetty, Board boat and depart from the Jetty. Enjoy the scenery of the Mangrove and the Klias River while having tea or coffee and local cakes. The river cruise will take approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours. Enjoy a Fun Fishing Experience while cruising along the Klias River. An opportunity to spot the elusive Proboscis Monkeys by the banks of the river.
1830hrs – Buffet dinner will be served on the boat. After dinner, the lights will be switch off to catch a glimpse of fireflies, slowly lighting up and decorating the Mangrove trees. – On the arrival of the boat at the Jetty, disembark from the boat and board transport for journey back to hotel in Kota Kinabalu.
2200hrs – Estimated time of arriving at hotel in Kota Kinabalu.
